We recently visited Bali, and as foodies, we asked our friends on instagram to send us their food recommendations, and we got a long list of amazing restaurants, coffee shops and smoothie bars.
The vegan food scene in Bali is phenomenal. So we did what we were supposed to do as self proclaim food bloggers and critics, we ate out. A lot. In general we found that restaurants were really good, so good that when some were ok, they just didn’t stand out.
Below you will find our favorite restaurants, a mix of western cuisine, Balinese food, really healthy food and our beloved junk vegan food. So when you go to Bali you can experience some of the best. I have also divided them by location: Canggu, Seminyak and Ubud.

📍CANGGU
GIVE CAFE
A non for profit restaurant with an emphasis on balinese cuisine. Give cafe donates all of its profits to 3 organizations. When you purchase your meal you get the option to choose where your money goes to: Puspadi Bali, Mission Pawsible or Merah Putih Hijau.
The breakfast menu offers your traditional French toast, pancakes and avocado toast, but also an inspired balinese dish. As for lunches, you can choose to eat the traditional Balinese way, by choosing rice with different sides, like corn fritters. But also your beloved burger, or salad.
We found give cafe to be the perfect combo of comfort food and Balinese food, with a side of good coffee and great vibes. If you want to hear more about how, why, and everything in between, listen to this episode on the Vedgetalk podcast, with Give Cafe and Kynd Community owners.
THE SHADY SHACK
Not entirely vegan but with amazing options. The Shady Shack is in the heart of buzzing Canggu and faces to beautiful rice fields, the vibes are chill, outside seating is great and the food is delish.
Their menu is on the healthy side. From their vegan options, we absolutely loved the jackfruit tacos, the smashed puds, and the nori bowl. The iced coffee was really good too!
OMA JAMU
A more local option, Oma Jamu serves traditional Balinese food made vegan. For 40,000 IDR you can choose up to 7 sides (besides rice), and sauces or salsas. The side options are traditional Balinese rides like corn fritters.
The place itself it is a beautiful wooden restaurant over looking the rice fields with open windows, letting the breeze pass through. You will find that the vibe is more chill, since it is a bit out of the centre of Canggu, and it is not “an instagram hub”.
I AM VEGAN BABE
A fairly new vegan cafe in Canggu, I am vegan Cafe it is a must. The menu offers all your comfort foods made vegan: burgers, vegan eggs, nachos, sandwiches, you get the idea.
We loved the aesthetics, the service, the food and the wifi! Seriously, for s vegan cafe in Bali, their wifi was amazing. It is very chill upstairs with a nice view to the rice fields, and a bit more busy downstairs, so take your pick!
We loved the cubano and the Mexican bowl.
VINNY’S WARUNG
Another Balinese vegan restaurant that is delicious. Although I love comfort western food, I love trying traditional food when visiting another country, and as vegan it sometimes can be hard.
Vinny’s Warung is the perfect mix of both, it does have the traditional Balinese way fo eating like choosing your sides with rice, or simply choose a dish on their menu, like gad gado, or nasi goreng, but you will also find Nutella toast or jackfruit tacos.
It is 100% vegan, organic and delicious and you won’t wrong with any of their Balinese sides.
PELOTON SUPERSHOP
Peloton supershop is another must if looking for a healthier alternative. It is in between Canggu in Seminyak, in a busy street, so you won’t miss it.
It is all plant based with options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you visit more than once. It offers bowls, wraps, burgers and a “touch of Mexico” with nachos, burritos and a Mexican inspired bowl. You will find something to satisfied your taste buds but and nutritional needs.
We loved the Power house bowl, but honestly everything looked bomb.
📍SEMINYAK
KYND COMMUNITY
Moving into Seminyak, we have to include Kind Community. It not only looks beautifully designed and it is an instagram photo playground (literally people line up for the famous pink wall), the menu it is out of this world.
Wether you go for breakfast and order a smoothie bowl with your name in it, or a breakfast vegan egg sandwich (so good!), or you come for dinner and have a few cocktails (the watermelon one is delisshhh), you will have a really good time and amazing food!
This is must if you happen to spend a few days in Bali. Make sure to stop by their ice cream shop next door for some dessert. Worth every penny.
We liked everything but the sunny ride burger for breakfast, the Thai chicken Skewers and the Korean Kimchi burger for dinner were our absolute favorites.
If you want to hear more about how, why, and everything in between, listen to this episode on the Vedgetalk podcast, with Give Cafe and Kynd Community owners and founders.
SHELTER CAFE
Shelter Cafe was our first cafe experience in Bali, that happened to be amazing. It was literally around the corner from our airbnb, and it was the perfect start for our day.
It offers healthy delicious food, from smoothies and smoothie bowls, nourish bowls and toast and avocado. You will feel like you are right at home but on a breezy rooftop in Bali. We loved the staff, the coffee and “Las Vegan” breakfast bowl.
Not everything is vegan, but can easily be made vegan.
📍UBUD
SAYURI HEALING FOODS
Moving to Ubud, Sayuri Healing Food was our go to. We spend way too much time there, and we are not complaining.
Their menu is huge, with many many healthy yummy options. They focus a lot on healing foods, so you will find elixirs, raw meals, and ingredients that you might not be able to pronounce. Burt everything is vegan, and really good.
The atmosphere of this place is chill, people stay there all day, share tables, seat on the floor, no shoes are allowed, and sometimes someone comes to take your order, sometimes no. It is a bit slower than other places, but that’s the way it rolls. And we were ok with it.
Everything is very yummy, but some of our favorites were Big boy breaky and the Malaysian Jackfruit Rendang.
ZEST UBUD
This place it is magical, so beautifully done and with chill vibes. It is located in a bit of a weird turn, so be careful when driving or walking here.
Zest menu is also huge, and it can take you days to try different dishes. We only went once and although we loved the Plant powered Nasi campur, we thought the bearded Mexican burrito was a bit average. But the smoothies and other drinks were delicious!
VEGGE KARMA
Another all you can eat restaurant, with only but Balinese vegan food. It is advertise as vegetarian but everything was vegan. And for only 59,000 IDR you get to enjoy very good food.
Similar to the Oma Jamu in Canggu, Vegge Karma it is wooden restaurant with lovely staff and side dishes. We loved every side dish, and the dessert options. A must if are in a budget or want to try traditional balinese food made vegan.
